• About the Artist:

  As a master teaching artist and curriculum developer, Danyett Tucker has dedicated her professional career to creating culturally relevant arts integrated content and programming for multiple generations of learners. With a BA in Fine Art from Morgan State University, Danyett has worked collaboratively on countless interdisciplinary projects exploring innovative ways to create art for social change. She is a dedicated community artist that is passionate about the professional development of teaching artists and helping students use visual storytelling techniques to support mental health awareness, embrace strength through adversity, and to help build a more equitable and inclusive society for everyone.

    Description:
    

    Learn the impact of protest art through role-play during the time of “Black Lives Matter” and the “March For Our Lives Movement”. Students will learn how artists use figurative art to highlight and uplift everyday people through puppet making or the creation of articulated figures. Utilize puppets, figurines, or marionettes to have creative conversations about the following character traits: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty/Trust, Caring/ Fairness, Perseverance, Self-Discipline, Courage, and Citizenship.

  • Imagine It! An Art Book of Your Own

    Description:
    

    Learn techniques used by author/illustrators to brainstorm ideas for original character development, settings, and story plots in this graphic stories adventure. Students will be able to use the Severe Seven, Hands on the clock technique, Half That Rule, Camera Views and Text features to develop storyboards, illustrate comics, create zines, accordion books, eBooks or book dummies through a variety of bookmaking approaches in this exciting visual storytelling residency. Activities culminate in a book signing and dedication of final works to your classroom or personal library.

  • Muralism & Los Tres Grandes -The Three Great Ones

    Description:
    

    Learn how Diego Rivera, Josè Clemente Orozco, and David Siqueiros used murals as political messages in their communities by converting public spaces into vibrant history lessons and social commentary of the times. Be inspired to create painted murals reflecting today’s society and its immediate concerns. Students will be exposed to the five C’s: cultures, comparisons between cultures and the artists, connections among disciplines, communication tactics, and community awareness, while creating a lasting legacy that will linger as an incentive to awaken civic responsibility in all participants and viewers during this mural residency.

    Program Costs:
    

    $150 single workshops; $700 for a day of 5 workshops back to back; $3500 for a full week of workshops

    Curricula Planning and Supply Prep Hours may be added at a rate of $125 per hour if deemed necessary.

    Travel requirements or restrictions:
    

    Mileage may be added if funding allows.

    Supplies for the art engagement will be discussed at the time of booking.

    For those schools that need 100% financial support to afford a program, there are financial opportunities that we can avail to serve those needs. NO child should be denied an artist at their school due to funding constraints
