D. Shawn McPartland is now showing abstract expressionist paintings and drawings at

dynamic brush strokes to create vibrant, painterly art that emerge organically,
sometimes only after months or even years.

studies, to figurative, still life and abstract work – in a variety of mediums – and
which are influenced by Max Ernst, Al Held, Joan Miró, Arshile Gorky, Egon Schiele,
Willem De Kooning, Vasily Kandinsky, Lucien Freud and many others.

Petersburg to Morocco, Campo Grande to Singapore, Sri Lanka to Oslo, and points in

"Art must evoke an emotional response, good or bad, but a natural response.
Without a natural response, or a response to the nature of the work, its meaningless,
and requires further evolution until the organic nature of the painting becomes
evident. At that point the painting comes to life, a life of meaning, different for
every viewer, but meaning – and purpose."
