Artists Statement: Kanye Tomiwa’s art reimagines wine corks as vessels of memory, emotion, and transformation. Each cork tells a story—a moment of celebration, reflection, or shared communion. His work captures the essence of human connection, honoring the shared rituals of toasts and gatherings that bind us to those we love and respect.

Through his sculptures, Kanye explores themes of commemoration, second chances, and new beginnings. His art reflects humanity’s resilience and the power of transformation, turning discarded materials into symbols of hope and renewal. By breathing life into wine corks destined for waste, he crafts intricate surfaces that embody both tactile beauty and profound meaning.

Grounded in a commitment to combating climate change, Kanye’s work emphasizes sustainability and the repurposing of non-degradable materials. Each piece serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to the planet while celebrating the timeless power of memory, connection, and storytelling.

The Vineyards at Dodon Statement: We grow wines that are the product of our relationship with nature. With nature as our guide and learning from those who went before us, we seek to reduce our chemical and physical footprint while returning life and biology to the landscape. It starts by enhancing the biodiversity within and around the vineyard. Spontaneously growing, native and naturalized cover crops, compost, and livestock regenerate soil, add microbial diversity, and restore underground ecosystems. Tomiwa’s art reminds us of the reciprocal relationships we share with our natural environment and the joy in community. We hope you will join us for this special event.
