POSITION SUMMARY

The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that supports our community’s artists and arts organizations through funding, leadership, and advocacy. Grantmaking is central to our mission, and the Grant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of all grant-making application, review, award, and review processes. The position serves as a consistent public presence to our stakeholders, providing support, responding to inquiries, and meeting the needs of our grantee organizations.

The Grant Manager is a vital member of a four-person administrative team and works closely with the President/CEO, COO, Marketing Manager, and the Board of Directors to support our mission. The position is also responsible for supporting fundraising and other public events and carrying out other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial individual willing and eager to learn and embrace new opportunities and responsibilities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer multiple granting cycles during the year by managing project tracking and outreach, incoming applications, and review processes.

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors’ Grant Committee to plan and support application review, evaluation, and recommendation for funding processes.
  • Manage the grant award and contracting process by administering award notification letters, crediting requirements, and grant agreements, and working within banking system to disburse grant payments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for ongoing grantee reporting and deliverables, including monitoring and recording progress.
  • Administer continuum of support activities for grantees, including training, software support, project check-ins, staff consultations, and site visits.
  • Work directly with marketing staff to oversee outward-facing grant program communications including outreach to artists and arts organizations, website updates, social media, and newsletters.
  • Ensure the quality and efficiency of grant programs through regular evaluation and redesign of database, software, and reporting processes and systems.
  • Design, develop, and implement data collection strategy and reports to assess the impact of ACAAC’s grant programs.
  • Support other activities and staff members within the organization as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Education

A high school diploma is required, and a college degree and/or work experience are preferred.

Experience and Skills

Qualifications and skills shall include, but are not limited to: 

  • 3-5 years of project management experience within the nonprofit sector – grant-making or grant management experience is preferred. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording, tracking, and issuing information. 
  • Excellent organization and written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Aptitude for and mastery of a variety of software types/platforms, including CRMs, grant-making software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Submittable, Canva, DocuSign, and Bloomerang is a plus.
  • Experience, education, or a strong interest in the arts. 

Salary, Benefits, and Hours 

This is a full-time position, Monday through Thursday, 10 am to 5 pm in the office, with remote work on Fridays. Occasionally, nights and weekends are required. Benefits include paid medical and dental insurance and a retirement plan. Salary range is $65,000 to $70,000.
